You must renew it when it expires (valid for 5 years), when it is lost or stolen, when it is damaged, or when there is a change in the driver's or company's details.
There are 4 types: driver card (for drivers), company card (for transport companies), testing centre card (for authorised workshops) and control card (for inspectors).
The usual timeframe is 15 to 30 business days from when the complete documentation is submitted. In urgent cases it can be expedited.
You need your ID/NIE, a valid driving licence (driver card), the previous card if you have kept it, and a current colour ID-style photo. For the company card you also need the Tax ID (CIF) and powers of representation.
