Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to get the certificate?
The online request is usually resolved in 1-3 working days. During periods of high demand it may take a little longer. Gestoría Gala follows up and sends it to you as soon as it is received.
Does the certificate expire?
The Ministry of Justice does not set an official expiry date, but many organisations only accept it for a maximum of 3 to 6 months from issue. If yours has expired for the procedure you need it for, we can obtain a new one.
Are the criminal record certificate and the sexual offences certificate the same thing?
No, they are different documents. The criminal record certificate certifies the general absence of convictions. The sexual offences certificate comes specifically from the Central Register of Sex Offenders and is the one required to work with minors under Act 26/2015. To work at a school, for example, both are usually required.
Can I get them if I am a foreign national?
Yes, foreign nationals with an ID or NIE can obtain the Spanish certificates. To prove a clean record in your country of origin, you need to request the equivalent certificate there, often through the consulate. We can advise you.
